About Michael

Dr. Michael Blutfield grew up in Westfield, New Jersey. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He first became interested in Podiatric Medicine after a soccer training trip his senior year of high school, where he went to Brazil and developed a severe infection on his ankle. When he returned home, he was sent to the hospital and treated by a podiatrist who showed tremendous care and compassion and helped to reassure him. From this experience, he developed a tremendous respect for the field of podiatric medicine and strives to use this quality of care and empathy in his own practice to help others in difficult situations.

Following undergrad, Dr. Blutfield earned his Podiatric Medical Degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. Upon graduation, he completed a comprehensive three-year surgical residency in reconstructive rearfoot and forefoot surgery at Cooper University Hospital, a Level One Trauma Center in Camden, NJ, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year.

During his residency, Dr. Blutfield had the opportunity to work with renowned orthopedic trauma and foot and ankle specialists, plastic and general surgeons, dermatology and numerous other medical specialties to become an extremely well rounded provider. This has given him an unmatched experience in managing complex foot and ankle conditions and patients as a whole. It has also provided him with the ability to work together with other specialties in a multi-disciplinary approach to help optimize patient care and outcomes.

Dr. Blutfield keeps current with the latest podiatric trends in academics, journal articles, and has attended multiple educational courses and workshops to help stay up to date on the newest technologies and cutting treatment options. He has participated in research studies throughout his residency. His clinical interests include Sports Medicine, Elective Bunion and Forefoot Surgery, Pediatrics, Trauma, Biomechanics/Orthotics, Diabetic Care and Limb Salvage.

Dr. Blutfield prides himself in delivering the highest possible patient care. He is ethical, believes in open communication with his patients, and thoroughly explains all treatment options and procedures. His easy going and upbeat personality enables him to relate well to patients of all ages. He is energetic, motivated, hardworking, humble, and team oriented.

During his free time, Dr. Blutfield enjoys relaxing with family and friends, fitness, playing sports, running, traveling, cooking, and hiking. He is an avid sports fan of the Giants, Yankees, Knicks, Devils, and James Madison University Dukes.
