About John

Dr. Caponigro earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology at St. John’s University. He received a Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed a two-year residency in Podiatric medicine and surgery at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, an academic affiliate of Weil Medical College of Cornell University. He then completed his training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery in New Jersey. He has been in private practice since July 2000.

Past experience includes Clinical Instructor and member of the teaching staff at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, and Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City Foot and Ankle Consultant at the Murray Hill Medical Group at NYU Medical Center in New York City, and at the Newark International Airport Medical Offices.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine.

He is double board-certified, by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.

He currently sits on the committee of 2 fellowship programs, The North Jersey Foot & Ankle Fellowship and Active Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Podiatric Fellowship.

He is currently Chief of the Podiatry Department at St. Mary’s General Hospital.

He is the assistant director of Podiatric Medical Education at St. Mary’s General Hospital.
