Dr. Caponigro earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology from St. John’s University and received his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed a two‑year residency in podiatric medicine and surgery at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, an academic affiliate of Weill Medical College of Cornell University, followed by advanced training in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery in New Jersey. He has been in private practice since 2000.
Dr. Caponigro has held numerous academic and leadership roles throughout his career, including Clinical Instructor at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and Mount Sinai Medical Center. He has also served as a Foot and Ankle Consultant for the Murray Hill Medical Group at NYU Medical Center and Newark International Airport Medical Offices. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine, and is double board‑certified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Caponigro currently serves as Chief of the Podiatry Department and Assistant Director of Podiatric Medical Education at St. Mary’s General Hospital. He also sits on the fellowship committees for the North Jersey Foot & Ankle Fellowship and the Active Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Podiatric Fellowship.College
